The annual Greenfield Glide 5k will be happening on Sunday, June 3rd at 8:30 am!

This is the 30th anniversary of the race, which is part of Citiparks’ series of footraces held throughout Pittsburgh. Runners and walkers are welcome to the race and post-race picnic and festivities.

Spring Planting

It is that time of year – SPRING PLANTING. Please mark your calendars for the following and consider joining us to plant Greenfiefld’s two public spaces:

- this Saturday, May 19th – Community Planting – Irving and Greenfield Avenue, 8:00-11:00 am.

- Saturday, June 2nd – Community Planting – Ronald and Greenfield Avenue 8:00-11:00 am.

We need plenty of help, green thumbed or not. Thanks!

Greenfield Game Afternoon June 3rd

Never played Factory Fun? How about Dominion? Bananagrams? Blokus
Trigon? Hive? Come on out and expand your board game vocabulary!

Try out different and varied games, bring a favorite board game to
share, or just come and socialize with your neighbors. There are usually drinks and/or snacks provided, and you are welcome to bring your own!

When: Sunday, June 3rd from 2pm – 5pm
Where: The Community Room, Greenfield Presbyterian Church at 3929
Coleman St. (Corner of Coleman and Alger)
What: Play board games!
Who: Anyone! All ages welcome!

Greenfield Neighborhood Needs Survey

Paving on Greenfield Ave and Murray Ave

Greenfield Avenue from 2nd Ave to Kaercher Street, and

Paving on Murray Avenue between Forbes Ave and Forward Ave, April 16th through 19th

The City of Pittsburgh advises that the Department of Public Works will begin Paving Construction on Murray Avenue from Forbes Avenue to Forward Avenue beginning Monday, April 16, 2012 through Thursday, April 19, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Delays will be likely.

Results of Greenfield’s 2012 Spring Community Clean Up

On Saturday, April 14th, twenty seven residents, including Councilman Corey O’Connor, five teenagers, and three little ones came out to redd up the neighborhood. Everyone met at the Magee Field Basketball Courts for coffee and homemade pastries and then fanned out to pick up the field, the steps off Greenfield Avenue into the Run and up to Bigelow, the steps from the Avenue to Minnesota, Windsor Street, and under the Murray Avenue Bridge. They also painted over graffiti, weeded the island at Ronald in preparation for a spring planting, and cleared the sidewalk along the Avenue below the car wash.

Total haul – 27 large black bags, 9 large blue bags, and 2 large paper bags of weeds.

Thanks to everyone who helped out! Greenfield is a lot cleaner because of you!

Open House and Free Spaghetti Dinner this weekend!

Greenfield Presbyterian Church (3929 Coleman Street, Pittsburgh, PA) is having an open house/free spaghetti dinner on Saturday April 14th at 6pm. Join us for a meal, tour the church and our kitchen (which you can use on Monday evenings) and share your input on programs you’d like to see. We would like to form a group for a vacation Bible school for kids this summer, so talk with us if you are interested (greenfieldpc@gmail.com). GPC offers services Sundays 11:00 AM, Bible Study Sundays 9:45, and informal services on last Saturday of the month at 6:00 PM.
